Question by tbaur: How do I setup 3 monitors on one computer using onboard graphics?
I have an older Dell PC which I’ve put a graphics card in already in order to support 2 monitors. Now I have a third monitor and I’m wondering if it’s possible to hook this third monitor up to my PC’s onboard graphics card and have it work in conjunction with the other 2 monitors (which are connected to the graphics card I installed)?

On most PCs the onboard card cannot be used at the same time as an add-on card.
This because they clash over use of resources.

Question by brahmaputra_zarathustra: How to setup 2 monitors on one computer?
What’s the best/easiest/cheapest way to set up 2 monitors on a single computer?

There are video cards that have 2 monitor outputs and support 2 monitors. Get one and hook up 2 monitors. Right-click on the background, then select properties, click the settings tab. Here you should see two monitors, though the second isn’t working yet. Select it on the screen and check the box “extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor” and you’re good to go.
Otherwise you can buy an inexpensive PCI-based video card, add it to your computer, hook a monitor to it and follow the above instructions to enable it.
Hope that helped!

Question by Greg P: How can I setup two monitors on my “HP Pavilion a1110n” computer? Can I?
I am not sure how to setup two monitors on this computer. I think I may need to get more hardware installed but it is a newer computer so I figure that I should be able to do something. Anyone know?

check the back of the card to see if there are two inputs. if there are two you can. otherwise you will either need a new card with two of them or invest in something like matrox duoheads2go.
people use 2 or more monitors because multitask works better than sqiushing all the windows together on one monitor.

It is in control panel>display>settings tab. If your graphics card supports multiple displays at a time, you will be able to configure them from here.
